The Katsina State Government has awarded road contracts worth N25.6 billion in the three senatorial districts of the state. The Commissioner for Works,Alhaji Musa Sada, said this on Saturday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina. He said the contracts, awarded last year, include construction of township roads. Among these, he said, were the dualisation of Malumfashi, Dutsin-ma and Daura township roads, Katsina Phases 5 and 6, and Ingawa as well as Kankia township roads, awarded at N10.7 billion. He stated that the projects were being executed together with concrete covered drains on both sides. The commissioner added that the Katsina township Phase 6 project comprised an outer ring road with street light and semi-urban water scheme which would serve the new GRA in the state capital. He said the government had also awarded a contract for the construction of highways covering 235 kilometers and valued at more than N14.8 billion.
According to him, 40 per cent of the contract sum for all the projects have been paid.
He said all the projects would be completed by 2010.(NAN).
